The short version

A brand famous for jokes runs a very disciplined account

Liquid Death had 229 Meta ads live, built from 158 distinct creatives and just 42 headlines. 219 of them use the same Shop now button. 214 carry no offer, no problem-solution pitch, no education and no social proof. Four carry an offer, and all four are free shipping.

Read as a direct-response account, that looks broken. Read as a brand whose product ads say “available at Amazon” in the corner, it is coherent: the ads are built to make you recognize the can later, in a cooler or an Amazon search, not to close a sale inside Meta.

The findings

Nine things the account shows

01 · The account

Far fewer ideas than ads

229 live ads collapse to 158 distinct creatives and just 42 distinct headlines. 111 creatives run as exactly one ad, and the most-used one runs as seven. The top three creatives together are about 6% of everything live.

158 distinct creatives

02 · The copy

Settled copy, rotating art

Each headline carries about five and a half ads. Most advertisers lock one image and write twenty versions of the text. Liquid Death locked the text and kept making pictures. 24 ads share the single most-used primary text.

03 · The button

Two buttons across the whole account

Shop now on 219 ads, See details on the other 10. No lead forms, no Learn more, no Sign up. Every ad asks for the same thing.

04 · The destination

Most clicks land on the home page

143 ads link to the home page, 40 to a product page, 27 to a collection page and 19 elsewhere, across 36 distinct landing pages. The home-page ads are also the oldest, at a median of 103 days live.

05 · The angle

93% carry no sales angle

214 ads carry no offer, no problem-solution pitch, no education and no social proof. 11 use one of those angles. 4 carry an offer, and all four are free shipping. Nothing live 90 days or longer carries a discount.

06 · The format

Carousels stay up, video rotates

118 carousels at a median of 101 days live, 105 videos at 21 days, and 6 static images at 122.5. By aspect ratio, 9:16 creative runs a median of about 41 days and 4:5 about 100: the account is moving to vertical in public.

07 · The age

Nearly half have run 90 days or more

111 ads have run 90 days or more, 53 between 15 and 89 days, and 65 under 15 days. 32 went live on September 22 alone, which is a drop, not a testing cadence. The oldest live ad is a video, 147 days in.

90 days or more · 111
15 to 89 days · 53
Under 15 days · 65
08 · The creative

Text on the image, no faces on the statics

149 of 158 creatives put text on the image. Not one static ad shows a human face: no founder, no customer, no testimonial. All 229 ads run on Instagram, and 108 of them also run on Facebook.

09 · The names

The comparison is already on the can

Killer Cola, Dr. Death, Cherry Obituary, Rest in Peach: the product names are jokes about the aisle Liquid Death is taking share from. When an ad does make the claim, it stays sharp, 90% less sugar than top sodas, with the qualifier moved into small print.

What a smaller brand can take from this

Liquid Death did not ignore direct-response best practice. It opted out of it, because its product ads point people at shelves and Amazon. Copy the creative mechanics, not the missing plumbing.

  • Give the image and the copy two different jobs: the picture stops the scroll, the primary text hands over a plain reason to buy.
  • Settle your copy and vary your art. Once a line survives a few months, rebuild pictures around it instead of rewriting it.
  • Put the comparison where the eye lands first, the way the product names do, so the body of the ad is free to do something else.
  • Work out which game you are in first. If your only checkout is your own website, take the creative lessons and keep your measurement.

How this was counted

  • Source: the Meta Ad Library, United States, all ads, active only, read on September 23, 2026. 229 of 229 live ads collected.
  • Collected with the teardown tool I built for client work, which reads every live ad for one Facebook Page from the Ad Library’s public data. Distinct creatives were counted by comparing the actual image, not the ad text.
  • A sales angle means an offer, a problem-solution pitch, education, or social proof. Each ad was read with its image and its copy together.
  • Days live count from each ad’s last delivery start, which resets on a pause or a heavy edit. Treat every age as a floor. A long run means an ad survived, not that it performed.
  • Meta publishes no spend, reach or results for US commercial ads, so nothing here measures performance.
  • Not affiliated with or endorsed by Liquid Death. Ad copy and product names are quoted for commentary.

Why other counts differ

If you have seen a different ad count for Liquid Death, it is almost always one of four things: a different day (32 ads went live on a single day in this snapshot), a different country, inactive ads included, or every variant counted as its own ad. This count is US, active only, one day, one row per live ad, with duplicates collapsed only for the creative and headline counts.
